Adopted Dogs in Ohio

Hi, I wanted to let you know that "Isabelle" who is now
Bella the French Mastiff, has found a home with me. She has
an older dog brother Pup-Pup a boxer mix who is14 and a
vizla mix who I got at the SPCA last June and is about 1
1/2. I was wondering if the Vizla mix had also come from
TN, her name at the shelter was Jordan. Bella also has 2
cat friends Lily and Samba. She became a part of our family
on 7/2/10 and is settling in wonderfully. From the first
introduction to the house it has seemed like she was always
here, all the "kids" get along great. She has already been
to the vet and enjoyed an afternoon at the dog park in
Lakewood and this week will be introduced to "dog day care"
at Barksdale Academy as Mom is a nurse and works some long
hours. I would be grateful for any additional info on
Bella's story please feel free to call me at 216-313-0571.
God bless your organization for the work you do. I will
send pics as soon as I can.
Thanks for helping me find my daughter Bella.

What was your impression of the NEOSPCA? This question was answered by an adopter. See below:
The place was clean and all the animals seemed to be well cared for, food, water, clean cages. The place is old and in an old neighborhood but the volunteers really seem dedicated. There were a lot of people looking at dogs and one man had adopted a little Shepard/collie looking dog –very little. Another woman had just adopted a dog but I did not see it. I did not get to talk to Anita who was very busy and they had Mia in the back room area so she would not get taken by anyone else. So we got to see this area also. This area was warehouse/garage like and full of stuff but neat and clean—old---.Mia had food and water. We were told she had been given flea stuff and wormed. Their policy is that if the dog does not work out---call and bring it back---no refund but pick out another within six months.
One volunteer was busy cutting apart newspapers into single sheets to use in the cages, other volunteers were walking the dogs outside in a grassy area (apartment building lawn) out back and carried poop bags to clean up right away. The hallway was lined with cages of all sizes (empty) with clean bedding inside. There was a room that I think is where they spay or neuter--- old, not your dream facility but I think adequate—did not get to see inside as the lights were off and door mostly closed.
There were lots of people looking at the puppies and young dogs—in fact I was surprised by all the activity. They had a sign out front saying “the new puppies have arrived” The women who helped us were very nice and seemed to care.
You have to fill out an adoption form stating “no research” etc and an acknowledgment that the dogs have come from TN and you must have your Vet check them etc.
One volunteer was scrubbing and sanitizing crates and cages. All the dogs were in cages that were roomy enough and indoors-no outdoor runs. They were warm and dry.
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about this place before I saw it – wondered about the fact that there were so many dogs up here needing adoption –how could they be doing this – well I guess because it is in a highly populated area and they keep costs down and have lots of volunteers. So I would say you can rest easy knowing your pups are being well cared for and given a second chance – not at the Hilton but at Motel Six.
Letters and Pictures from Homes in Ohio
Hi
My name is Sue and my family adopted one of the three pups today in Ohio. We chose the brown boy. He was the first one we laid eyes on and we fell in love. By us I mean my step daughter and I. Her name is Delaney and she is 11 turning 12 on October 11th. This little guy is her birthday gift. He has taken to her like you wouldn't believe. He will follow her anywhere and everywhere. If someone else holds him he quickly gets tired of them and heads on back to Delaney. She needed this puppy in the worst way. She moved to Ohio back in July to be with her dad and has been missing her dog (Peanut) at her moms house back in North Carolina. My husband Dave and I have a dog here in Ohio but she is a little wild and not cuddly at all. She isn't even soft! Her name is Grace and she is a Belgian Malinois and if you do your research you will see she is VERY energetic. She is all about fun and nothing about peaceful or graceful. I am including pictures of Delaney with her/your pup and the his new buddy. I can tell you they will make a fun pair as Grace is in love with him already. All she wants to do is play with him but darn it we keep pulling her away when she gets too excited. He was biting her face and barking at her! I think he likes her too. Nothing to worry about with this one. We would love to hear back from you to see if you have any idea what he might be mixed with. He is a cutie. Y Thank you for caring enough to save them. They will be just fine now. S. Rudolph
Becky,
I wanted you to know that my husband and I brought both Mom and Daughter home with us yesterday. On Friday my parents (both in their late 80's) who live with us and I went to the SPCA and found those two. We had a wonderful rescue dog for 7 years who we had to put down two weeks ago. He was a truly wonderful dog and we'll miss our Ralphie for a long long time. So that empty dog place in our home was really tugging at our hearts. Now we have two! My husband was in Cincinnati and didn't get to see them with us but when he came home and saw how excited the 3 of us were especially my parents he went right over on Saturday morning. I was working that day and we thought he would be bringing Snickers home but he said after seeing them he couldn't break up the set! So now we have both. They are so cute! Mom's great and doesn't seem to have any problems. Snickers is very timid and we'll need to work with her. We have a big yard that's fenced in and they love it! My Mom and Dad seem to have gotten younger with the excitement of our two new girls. We did rename them. Snickers is now Ginger and Mom is now Pepper so we call them our Spice Girls. Tomorrow I take them in for their first vet check and was hoping you might be able to give me more information. Anything about their background would be great. We have some information but not much. How did you get them? Why did they travel from Tennessee to Ohio? Lot's of questions but it doesn't matter in the end because we love them already! Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for sending them here however that happended. Norma Pepper and Ginger are still doing great! Pepper (that's mom) is the more obedient and great to work with. Ginger is timid and stubborn. Jim and I are going to take them both to obedience class. I think this will help with some of the stubborn stuff. We want to keep socializing them around people and other dogs too! Anyway we love these two gals and they've been great doggie therapy especially for my Dad who usually has them both in his lap. Take Care, Norma
I just wanted to email the photos of the three dogs we have adopted from
you already, including Joe the Doxie puppy. Have a great day. Keep
in touch.
